The Michigan Vacant Property Campaign serves as a statewide, coordinated initiative, accessible to all types of communities and targeted to leaders in multiple sectors. To facilitate the campaign’s mission, the MVPC provides technical assistance to communities upon request through multiple capacities.

Technical assistance is provided in consultation with key stakeholders in the community to determine the resources and strategies that best meet the community’s goals.

Technical assistance offerings include:

    • vacant property and asset mapping
    • analysis of assets and market activity
    • production and interpretation of ownership, lien, and title data
    • strategies for vacant property mitigation
    • community-based vacant property interventions
    • government strategies for addressing vacant properties
    • legal analysis
    • organizing and engagement advice
    • redevelopment assistance
    • code enforcement best practices and assistance
    • land banking best practices and assistance
    • vacant property registration ordinance research and assistance
    • strategies to hold and maintain properties to retain their value during periods of low market activity when reinvestment is not feasible
    • facilitating the formation of local vacant property campaigns led by local stakeholders in selected communities that have demonstrated financial, human, organizational, political and in-kind resource leverage
  • New to the Campaign offerings is the Blight Elimination Guide website
